35

The director of the teaching center just pointed out that I share my birthday with the Marquis de Sade.*

Why does he know such things?

I'm 35 today. I'm enjoying making my coworkers feel old, even as I feel more 45 than 35.

Happy birthday, dear. If it's any consolation, you also share a birthday with my paternal grandfather: a kind man and an educator (the former superintendent of the South Whittier school district).

Best wishes for an exciting year ahead!

  2. Happy birthday! I'm going to (optimistically) hope that your director gets some kind of "On This Day In History" notification every day, or looked up your birthday on Wikipedia, and doesn't just know a little too much about the Marquis de Sade.

  3. Happy birthday! I hope it's been a good one. So far, 35 has been a pretty good year; yours will be too, I'm sure.

FYI: I heard on NPR that Jill Dawson's biographical novel of Rupert Brooke, The Great Lover, has come out in the U.S. in paperback. Thought of you.
