Twitter

Because I don't already have enough of my life on the Web, I've joined Twitter. It's hard to explain exactly what it is, but I'm finding it's a simple way to keep myself honest and focused on work in the evenings. It's a quick method of reporting on what I'm doing instead of blogging ev-er-y-thing.

If you decide to join me, send an invitation to trillwing -at- gmail -dot- com. If I recognize you from our little bloggy community, I'll add you as a friend and we can be focused together.

FYI, I use my real name on Twitter, so that's what will be showing up in your friends list if you join. You'll recognize me from my avatar. :)

This site seems to have kinda the same purpose as Facebook's status box, where you tell everyone how you are and what you are doing...I dunno about Twitter...it sounds like it might make me procrastinate even more...hmmm...I'll have to think about it....

So how does this keep you focused? Seems like it'd distract me more than focus.

I'm liking Twitter. I keep it running in the background and allow myself to report on what I'm doing. It takes 15 seconds to update, and I spend maybe 30 seconds checking out what everyone else is doing.

It's a lot less easy to get sucked into this than into Bloglines. I assure you, I can be a slave to Bloglines.
